Charity Water Walk No. 2: Herisemwandeling (Alsemberg)
OPEN TO MEMBERS AND NON-MEMBERS
For our second charity walk this year, Jenny T will lead us on the Herisem walk, a well-signposted circular trail of 8km (2 hours). From Alsemberg, we will follow the pretty Molenbeek river and encounter a surprising mix of beautiful landscape vistas, gothic architecture, art and relics of industrial heritage including the former Herisem paper mill.
There are some inclines in the second half of the walk. Hiking shoes/boots are recommended for the unpaved sections.
Meet at 10.20 for 10.30 departure at the Cultureel Centrum De Meent, Gemeenveldstraat 34, 1652 Alsemberg (Beersel).
Please register below. The walk is free but a suggested minimum donation to the BWC 2022 charities of €5 is appreciated.

Why Water Walks?
We have scheduled 10 walks featuring water, to include rivers, canals, lakes and reservoirs. Each walk is between 7km to a max of 10km. And as we are so lucky to have so many beautiful areas in and around Brussels, it seemed an appropriate theme for this year.
Do join in and help make a difference to the lives of people and whether walking or not, please donate to the Water Walks here.
We have two very worthy charities to support in 2022:
- The Community Kitchen provides nourishing food to sustain those who are hungry, homeless, or vulnerable in Brussels. The Community Kitchen works in partnership with other voluntary organisations (Serve the City, Salvation Army) that distribute and serve the food where needed.
- The Mbedza Project in Malawi. As of 2020, 8.1% of the adult population live with HIV, contributing to 978,363 orphaned children. Funds raised through BWC’s efforts would directly support The Songani HIV testing and counselling Centre in Malawi.
