This is a gentle walk which takes us through the charming village of Saint Géry and the pretty surrounding countryside.  The village and the church take their names from a 6th century bishop of Cambrai.   The present neo-classical church was built in 1836 but it is thought a church was built on the same site around the year 1000.  As we meander through the village we will pass a Medieval tower, a Watermill, a Memorial to missionaries murdered in Kongolo and a little Chapel intended for hermits!   As well as passing through this picturesque little village we will walk through some rolling countryside and a wood.

Here is a short version of the walk, with the same starting point. Length 2.6 Km. +-36 minutes.
Route: we start outside the Saint Gery church on rue de l’Etat and turn immediately left onto Alphonse Minique, passing by the Medieval tower on our right and continuing straight onto rue de la Boulette. Turn left on to rue du Moulin, passing by the Dussart watermill on our right and continue until the T junction where we turn left onto rue de Mellery. The 8km walkers will turn right at the fork onto rue des Maieurs, but the shorter walk will continue along rue Mellery,  until number 18, where you will turn left onto rue de La font Saint Gery. After 200 metres, turn right into rue des Loups. After 200 metres, turn left onto rue de L’Etat and you will arrive at the starting point.
Alternatively, you can turn left onto rue des Loups at number 31 rue Mellery, it will be prettier but a little bit longer by 100m.
